DRY EYE CLINIC
Dry eye occurs when the eyes fail to produce enough tears or when the tear film, which lubricates and protects the cornea, becomes imbalanced. The tear film consists of three layers: the mucin layer, which helps tears adhere to the cornea; the aqueous layer, which provides hydration and nutrients; and the lipid layer, which prevents evaporation. Disruptions in any of these layers can lead to symptoms like dryness, irritation, redness, and blurry vision. Our practice specializes in diagnosing and treating dry eye, helping restore tear film balance, and ensuring long-term eye comfort and health.
GLAUCOMA MANAGEMENT
Glaucoma is a disease that damages the optic nerve and can lead to vision loss if untreated, often with minimal or no early symptoms. This makes annual comprehensive eye exams essential for early detection. At Harvard Square Eye Care, we use advanced technology, including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Visual Field testing, to diagnose and manage glaucoma. Our certified specialists detect early signs and provide treatment to protect the optic nerve and prevent vision loss.
DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT
All of our optometrists are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions, including dry eye, red eye, keratoconus, bacterial conjunctivitis, allergies, and contact lens discomfort. They also address symptoms like flashing lights, floaters, or other visual changes. Our doctors regularly diagnose and manage glaucoma, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), retinal holes, and tears, as well as identify signs of systemic conditions like diabetes and hypertension. With their comprehensive expertise, our optometrists play a vital role in maintaining your overall eye health.
